Dr. Tim Murphy
Tim Murphy is Nuurvana’s resident anthropologist of the unseen. With the warmth of Mister Rogers, a PhD in anthropology and the cultural curiosity of Margaret Mead, Tim brings a deeply grounded, compassionate, and meaningful lens to every session—one that blends social science with spiritual insight.
By the time he joined Nuurvana as a clairvoyant healer in 2017, Tim had spent two decades studying language and culture in the U.S., France, and Brazil. Awarded for his excellence in teaching, Tim has presented and published his work on belonging and identity and is the author of Queerly Cosmopolitan, an ethnographic study of queer belonging in urban Brazil.
Tim and Deganit met during a fateful year in Northern California when they were both between chapters. Tim was the first person to receive a psychic reading from Deganit, and the first to encourage her to keep going. Years later, he became one of her earliest students, and eventually, a Nuurvana healer himself.
Tim is also the co-author of the forthcoming book IMAGINE (September 2025), written with Nuurvana founder, Deganit Nuur, after years of sharing client stories, comparing energetic patterns, and blending their perspectives on what it means to heal.
